services - costume hire charges

Costume hire charges and the length of hire are agreed at the time of booking. Our hire charge ranges from £20 up to £60 with the average being around £25-£30. The hire period is usually 3 - 4 days. Once you have chosen your costume we take a holding fee of £10 for adult costumes, £5 for children’s costumes. This amount is deducted from the final invoice when you collect your costume. If you cancel your booking, we do not refund the holding fee.

We try to be as flexible as possible with the hire period, but obviously we need to get the costumes cleaned and back in the shop ready for the next customer. Sometimes demand is so great we need the costumes back the next day (particularly Father Christmas suits and children’s Tudor or Victorian outfits)

If you need to take a costume for a longer period of time, as long as the costume is available, we are happy to negotiate a longer hire period and an appropriate charge will be agreed at the time of booking.

When you take a costume out of the shop, we ask for a deposit. This is normally £25 (even if it is only for a hat). The deposit is normally cash or a cheque– alternatively we can deduct it from your debit/credit card and once the costume is returned in full, we refund your account.

Please note: The deposit does not cover the replacement cost of a costume - some would cost hundreds to replace. We will pursue (through the courts if necessary) any costumes not returned.
